Legendary Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, despite being 46 years old, has signed a contract to play with Parma in the second Italian category.
The veteran footballer will stay with the Serie B club until 2024 and will be the first choice for the gate of Parma.
“Gigi is a great player and one of the best in the Italian national team, so the renewal is a pleasure for us,” said Parma president Kyle Krause.
Italian football icon Buffon returned to Parma from Juventus last summer after two decades away from the team where he started professional football.
The 44-year-old has a record of 176 appearances with the national team, as well as a record of 657 Serie A appearances since debuting with Parma in 1995.
He has won 27 trophies including the 2006 World Cup and the 1999 UEFA Cup with Parma.
Parma were among the best clubs in Italy in the 1990s, owned by the dairy company Parmalat, until its bankruptcy in 2000.
