The new $ 500 million super yacht of Russian tycoon Roman Abramovich has been photographed for the first time as it is almost complete at a shipyard in Germany.
The 160-meter-tall Solaris, equipped with a helipad and swimming pools, will soon begin naval testing before being handed over in the summer to the 54-year-old owner of English football club Chelsea.
The eight-deck yacht of the Russian millionaire is equipped with 48 cabins, where 36 guests can sleep, as well as a crew of 60 people.
Two high-tech electric motors called Azipods will propel the giant boat. Its powerful propellers can turn up to 360 degrees, giving added maneuverability, without the need for a steering wheel blade.
But despite the impressive mass, Abramovich’s new vehicle is no bigger than the yacht he owns, the Eclipse that reaches 180 meters.
In addition to Solaris and Eclipse, the Russian millionaire has owned at least five other super-yachts, including the 55-meter-long Sussurro, the 95-meter Ecstasea, and the 120-meter-long Luna of Pelorus, as well as the 125-meter Grand Bleu.
Solaris was photographed at the construction site between cranes and construction skeletons, and is reportedly nearing completion by German construction site Lloyd Werft in Bremerhaven, north of Bremen.
A source told the daily The Sun.“This will be the yacht of the year when it launches a few months later.”
Solaris has a top speed of 18 knots (20 miles per hour). It is equipped with an outdoor bar, jacuzzi and sauna.
Abramovich owns the Eclipse super-yacht, which costs a little more than the young man he uses for cruising the French Riviera, where he owns a villa on the Antibes peninsula.
Eclipse reportedly has an anti-missile system and armor at Abramovich’s residence.
The construction source added: “The construction details are kept secret but of course the new yacht will be a great addition to its owner.”
Before Solaris and Eclipse, the millionaire owned Le Grand Bleu which cost 130 million dollars, Pelorus 320 million dollars, and the yacht Luna.
The Luna of Le Grand Bleu were yachts of the expedition category, with strong kits that can break rough seas.
Some of his yachts have been lent to well-known Chelsea footballers over the years, such as John Terry, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba.
But Russia will not sail to Britain any time soon after it was reported that his visa expired two years ago.
Abramovich, who owns $ 250 million worth of property in London, became an Israeli citizen in 2018 and canceled his British visa application.
