The pandemic did not stop the departure of Albanians to European Union countries.
According to the European Statistics Agency EUROSTAT, during the last 3 years 27 thousand Albanians have left Albania for Germany.
“In the last 12 years, 700 thousand Albanians have left for European Union countries“, Says Erion Muça, employment and career expert.
Typical during the last 2 years is the mass departure of families, ie not only professionals, who provide an employment contract and a 5-year residence permit. The individual then pulls the whole family there.
Germany is already positioned in third place and in 2021, in second place, in terms of the number of residence permits for Albanian citizens working and living there.
The professions that are most in demand in Germany and that are fleeing Albania are doctors and nurses who continue to stay at the top of the list for almost 10 years. Next ranked IT engineers, Babysitter are also in demand. The list goes on with professions that do not require a specific qualification such as Plumber, Electrician, employee in agriculture and livestock, employee in the field of Construction.
We refer to the Federal Employment Agency in Germany, EUROSTAT, foreign embassies in Albania and employment and mediation agencies for Germany.
Albania should undertake such employment policies to inventory the needs of the domestic market for professions and trades. We do not know today how many positions, what they are and what the domestic market needs in the next 5 or 10 years.
