An armed self-defense group in the Gulf of Mexico has taken hostage a drug cartel killer and forced him to reveal his comrades and corrupt local officials.
Footage recently posted on the Autodefensas (Angry Citizens) social networking site showed the group of activists directing weapons from the apprehended trafficker.
The detainee, whose name is not mentioned, gave details of three Guatemalan immigrants who had recently disappeared.
Immigration from Guatemala to Mexico is on the rise recently and the captive admitted that the three missing immigrants were killed as he failed to pay the ransom demanded by the hostages.
The video shows the captive surrounded by activists of the Autodefensas group, while an interrogator was looking for information translated by the agency BorderlandBeat.
One of the questions asked of the hostage was: “Who is responsible for the three missing Guatemalans in Antigua?”
The captive says: “Elivar Giovanni Galicia, known as El Pollino, El Bayo, Cham chief, Chumiz, commander Nacho and El Alfa. Boyno gave the order for their execution on a farm in the Nueva Linda area.
“They are responsible for the killings in Mexico and Guatemala.”
Asked why the migrants had been killed, the detainee said they “had not paid the ransom demanded by the gang”.
He suggested that Captain Hiram Mejía Alba be involved: “Juan Isidro has paid the $ 100,000 National Guard captain who controls the highways in Chiapas.”
The news came after Mexican media reported that there were more than 40 disappearances in 2022 in the area of the last three disappearances.
Chipa’s prosecution has launched an investigation into the missing persons and the interrogation of the person in the video.
