As the Russian attack on Kiev continues to escalate, at the largest children’s hospital there, children are relocated to its basement to receive the necessary treatment.
Even with the noise of heavy fighting and shelling outside, children are too sick to be transferred elsewhere. For this reason the underground corridor has been adapted for about 10 patients.
3-month-old Milena’s mother, Sonia, told CNN she had slept on the floor next to her for the past seven nights.
“We have to stay underground and we do not know how long. “I’m only here in the hospital and my husband is at home with my other child,” she said.
According to CNN, while the hospital is dealing with trauma injuries, in the absence of human resources, some parents have helped care for other children in the basement.
The Ukrainian and Russian delegations met in Belarus on Thursday for another round of talks, but agreed only to provide humanitarian corridors for civilians and a possible temporary ceasefire in the evacuation areas.
