The Colombian military and government have distributed rare images of the wreckage of the San Jose ship, which sank three centuries ago with treasures of millions of dollars according to reports.
Four missions with remotely operated submarines have been sent 950 meters deep to the Colombian Caribbean coast.
Missions of the Navy and the Colombian Ministry of Culture uncovered the wreckage untouched by “human intervention.”
They said the ship’s clay-clad cannons were seen between clay vessels, porcelain and gold.
Authorities said they had discovered two other ruins of the colonial era but in previous cases Colombia has been challenged by Spain for ownership of the assets found.
