Authorities in Kosovo took action after announcing a sudden rise in the price of oil.
An economic operator was fined 1000 euros by the Municipal Inspectorate in Skenderaj for price bloating and manipulation of quantity.
Two warehouses of economic operators were temporarily closed during an action of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The market inspector in Gjilan also fined a market with 400 euros due to the mismatch of the price of sugar: the price advertised in the 5 kilogram package was 4.09 euros, while in the box the consumer pays 4.19 euros.
A liter of oil was sold yesterday for 3.50 euros in Kosovo, from less than 2.00 euros that was a few days ago, provoking numerous reactions, including that of Prime Minister Albin Kurti himself, who described this artificial increase as unreasonable. “The price of edible oil in the Kosovo market is the most expensive in the world,” said Kurti.
Artificially inflated oil prices should be inflated…
This is about people who want to take advantage of a global crisis and not the real situation in our country, he said. Kurti stated that there is no need to panic, as there is food oil for the citizens of Kosovo for another month. In addition to the price of oil, the price of bread, flour, petroleum products, bus tickets and taxis has recently risen in the Kosovo market, apparently under the influence of the crisis in the markets caused by the Russian occupation of Ukraine.
