Albania signed this Tuesday the agreement with the American company “Jons Group International” for the strengthening of cyber security and the increase of the digital infrastructure.
In her speech, Belinda Balluku said that this agreement will serve as a guide to the strategy for strengthening the security of our digital systems.
The Minister stressed that at a time when services were being digitalized to give citizens the opportunity not to face long queues, we are exposed to cyber attacks.
According to her, the biggest challenge today is cyber security, the last line of defense between our most vital information and chaotic attack.
“Attacks can be internal or external and do not distinguish between very large or small countries. Cyber attacks occur every 14 seconds in the world. The Albanian government is aware of the danger posed by cyber attacks and information leaks. We are taking a proactive approach to cyber security today. Today we have the honor to have representatives of the Jones Group“, She said.
Minister Balluku further stressed that in the framework of the two agreements with the US, the agreement will be signed as a guide for the protection of digital security. She thinks such a thing will enable our country to do a full scan of our systems to assess how vulnerable they are to cyber attacks.
“We will design strategies for the awareness of those who manage sensitive data but also citizens for the sharing of their personal data. The government is taking the necessary steps to ensure the security of their data“, She said.
American military and political figure, James Logan Jones Jr., the founder of the company “Jones International” with which the Albanian government signed today the agreement on cyber defense, said that the success that will be achieved in this regard will be transformative. He said the agreement would bring a high degree of security, as well as create new jobs.
For Prime Minister Edi Rama, the cooperation for the establishment of a national security center for cyber defense, will be an added value for NATO.
“This news today is very good for those who were hurt by the release of personal data. It was a bad thing that did not come only for bad as Albanians saw with their own eyes a problem which today we have easier than yesterday to address in terms of legal and moral relationship of many employers with the state and employees. “Citizens also experienced the negative effects of an attack on the system, which makes today’s agreement even more welcome for them.” said Rama.
He stressed that what happened to the payroll teaches us that it is not only anonymous cyber attacks against which we must be protected, but also attacks from within infiltrated, paid or even irresponsible persons.
“I very much appreciate the aspect of our agreement for a very reduced space for people who do harm. Digital protection network will be made available. The ability of any individual to penetrate the system will be very limited as there will be many protective walls.
