The Municipal Council of Tirana approved the naming of 4 new streets in the capital with the names of the martyrs Fatos Xhani, Kastriot Feska, Saimir Duçkollari and Altin Dizdari who lost their lives in 2009 in the action to capture Dritan Dajti.
Today, on the 109th anniversary of the establishment of the State Police, the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj received in a meeting the families of the martyrs, symbolically handing them a plaque with the name of the new streets.
“A day of gratitude for those who serve today in police uniform, for those who have served and especially for those who have fallen on duty” – said Veliaj.
The Mayor provided for the support and encouragement of the families of the martyrs of the homeland.
“For us here in Tirana, a martyr of the Homeland is not a statistic, he is a hero. A hero for those who were born after 2009, to understand that in the names of this city, in the names of streets and schools, we put people who make us feel proud “- he continued.
The mayor promised that he will always be the advocate of the common good.
“Every day we make decisions that maybe a silent majority can hardly wait for, but maybe a minority that can have media, that can have money, that can have access to politics, tries to repel them. As long as we serve the majority, we must have a clear conscience for the difficult decisions we make to move forward, to take this city as high as possible “- concluded Veliaj.
