Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi said today that the US and Russia should hold talks with each other to end the fighting in Ukraine.
A day after meeting with Joe Biden, Draghi said that during the talks between them it was realized that the road to peace is complicated, but said that everyone should make efforts to help Russia and Ukraine find a solution.
“There are so many possibilities, but before we get to that point, an effort must be made, and it is an effort that all allies, especially Russia and the United States, must make to sit at a table. ”said Draghi.
The Italian prime minister added that he is confident that Moscow’s demand that European buyers pay for Russian gas in rubles will not lead to a supply disruption.
The European Commission has warned that meeting the requirement could violate EU sanctions, but Draghi said it was a “gray area”.
“In fact, most gas importers have already opened their ruble accounts with Gazprom,” he said.
