Although the Ministry of Foreign Affairs requested in mid-February the removal of all Albanian citizens from Ukraine, one of them remains there.
Top Channel journalist Muhamed Veliu was able to interview him, and for security reasons at his request, he will not publish his name.
Muhamed Veliu: Where are you now?
Albanian Ukraine: I am currently in the town of KamecPodolski in the central part of Ukraine. I am about 250 kilometers from Kiev and about 400 kilometers from the border with Romania.
Muhamed Veliu: How is the situation there?
Albanian Ukraine: In this area it is quiet there is no movement. In an area about 100 miles[100 km]from where I am speaking, there were armed people in every corner, the armed population. They checked and verified everyone who was there.
Muhamed Veliu: Why did you stay in Ukraine?
Albanian Ukraine: I stayed in Ukraine because my eldest daughter lives in Kiev and I went to evacuate her. I could not enter Kiev because the Ukrainian forces would not let me. The southern part of Kiev is surrounded by Russian forces. Thank god I thank my friends there who have evacuated the girl to a safe place and at the moment she is in a place where there is no danger.
Muhamed Veliu: Did you talk to the girl, how is she experiencing all this war situation in Kiev?
Albanian Ukraine: He did not experience the war well in the first two days. While now it has calmed down. It is understood that the first two days of living in an apartment in the center of Kiev very close to parliament and the presidency. Two areas that today are mostly guarded by Ukrainian forces. The girl told me that she heard the beatings all the time, she did not experience it well. Anyway now it is quiet as it is in a very safe place and I believe there will be no more problems.
Muhamed Veliu: Do you believe that you will be able to successfully evacuate your daughter from Ukraine?
Albanian Ukraine: Yes. I believe that is. I believe that the situation from today can be calmed down as I see this in the people I speak and communicate with, because today the talks between the two countries Ukraine-Russia have started. As if they are feeling a little calmer themselves.
