A decade ago, Gjok Gjoka, from Hani i Hotit, gave up the truck transport line to deal with agricultural affairs.
His beginnings as a farmer cultivating medicinal plants were auspicious. But according to Gjoka, sage in these two years has been sold at a price that covers costs and does not bring you profit. The change in income at the end of the month caused Gjoka’s family to decrease. Out of 6 members, this family was left with 3 members.
“I have 4 children. The eldest daughter is in Italy, the other daughter is Canada, I have a son who goes and comes to Italy. Yes this little one has the desire not to move and has a passion for agriculture and is devoted only to agriculture. You advise him to stay and work the land? “I really want him not to emigrate.”said farmer Gjok Gjoka.
The youngest of the house, is 18 years old. Andy says unlike his sisters and brother, he will not leave the village.
“I like my future to be in my homeland. I like working in agriculture. Even the cousins who are there say come on, but I think it is difficult everywhere, as I will work there I will work here as well. “When it comes to agriculture, father and son are always together.” said Andi.
“I started to like agriculture when my dad started doing it”he added.
But the son’s love for the land, according to Gjoka, should be nurtured by supportive policies from the Ministry of Agriculture, which so far have not been appropriate. According to him, the state should support all farmers, regardless of ranking and area.
“I have been dealing with agriculture for 11 years, I could have applied 5-6 times and I received a penny. Why say what when you apply? It says you are 3000-5000 in a row, what is the running race here? ”
Unlike Dad, Andy believes young people can turn their eyes away from the ground with very little attention from the agriculture ministry.
“Not only us, but all farmers in Malësia e Madhe need support, subsidies, lowering the price of oil.”
For Andin, the departure of his peers from the village is not very worrying, as his day is busy after returning from school the young boy is called by agriculture.
How many friends do you have in the neighborhood?
“There is only one left in the neighborhood, the others have fled. In the village everyone has fled outside. “Very little is left.”
Have you ever considered getting out of here?
“No, there is no idea that comes to my mind.”
The 18-year-old has clear plans for the future, as soon as he finishes graduation he will go to university to study business management, and then he will return to the village, this time with a new vision. for the farm.
