The outer wall of the Italian Embassy in Tirana is dressed in the tricolor of the national flag of the neighboring country, but in the highest form of a contemporary art, brought by the well-known Albanian visual artist and sculptor, Helidon Xhixha.
The unique style work of the artist graduated from the Academy of Arts of Milan and specialized in London, called “Flag of Steel”, has been a gift for the Italian embassy, but also for the citizens of Tirana, who already have a new installation at one of the most beautiful intersections of the city.
The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, during the inauguration ceremony of the work of the painter and sculptor Helidon Xhixha at the residence of the Italian Embassy, said that this work gives another look to the whole area. “It is enough to see how this intersection has changed, which connects the Lyceum with the school ‘Kosova’, and what image this recomposition of the Embassy wall gives with a fantastic work by Helidon Xhixho,” said Veliaj.
The mayor especially praised the symbol of such a gesture, which first raises the values of relations between the two countries. “We are very lucky to have neighboring Italy, Italy of culture, Italy of language, Italy of science, Italy of aesthetics, Italy of song, Italy of poetry, Italy of food! Even if we had chosen, we would have been able to choose better neighbors than the Italians. Therefore, I can not wait that during 2022, together with you, to maximize Tirana as the Capital of Youth, “said Veliaj.
The Italian ambassador, Fabrizio Bucci, also praised the fact that there are no borders and barriers between our two countries. “Unfortunately, embassies are often seen as a bit of a high-walled fortress and you can never see what is inside. But today we have opened the doors to discover this work, which we thought to place outdoors, a beautiful work that has a strong Italian character, but it is also a work that Helidon wanted to give him above all the city, “said Ambassador Bucci.
Well-known artist Helidon Xhixha thanked the Italian ambassador. “I thank Fabrizio for transforming this country into a perfect link between Italy and Albania. Here celebrate two peoples coming together and we have long been united by history and everything else. We thank Italy, to which we will always be grateful for what we are, ”said Xhixha, who is known especially for the fact that he applies a special style in his works of art, reflecting light mainly on metal.
