The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj commented on Top Albania Radio the clash with the Albanian Football Federation, for the transparency of the elections for the Tirana Association.
Veliaj stressed that thanks to that battle won, the Tirana Association already has an elected president with fair votes. Veliaj stressed that the debate will continue after the Conference League match.
“The Municipality of Tirana was involved to have transparent elections for the association of Tirana because it participates there. We had those elections and we got that court decision, which gave us the right. Ideally, I would like the same right to be for the whole of Albania. Regarding the Municipality of Tirana, we won our right. It became a transparent competition and the candidate who made the competition open and transparent won with a court decision, as well as with the votes of the clubs. This is the end of the part that interests the Municipality of Tirana.
Does this battle deserve to continue further? I believe so. And I will not hesitate to continue this battle after the match, but I know to say that every good Albanian should do as we call on our political opponents, when it comes to our membership in the European Union, which is before the Council of Security, then all of us must be together because it is a relationship of Albania with the world. This also applies to Tirana’s relationship with the ALF. This is an event that has to do with the image of Albania with the world and we will certainly leave our discussions and differences for a moment later. Albania is much more important than the differences I have with someone else, which I will not hesitate to continue after the match.
This is an extraordinary opportunity to show the world a super modern Tirana. I have not avoided any battle: we won the battle with Tirana to have an association not by appointment, but by election and not by imported car wash… For all this we will have time to have these debates, but now focus on the match “stressed Veliaj.
