The first stop that many tourists make as soon as they set foot in Tirana is the “Infopoint” information center where they get information about the location of the places they want to visit.
Museums are among the most visited points by foreigners who come for the first time, but lately they are also showing high interest in the villages of Tirana.
“Great preferences for museums, the historical museum, the Tirana mosaic, the castle, the bazaar, the tray bridge, tourists just come looking for them. There are not a few requests for the villages of Tirana, big requests for Bovilla, Dajti, Mali me Gropa, Shën Gjergji, Petrela, the part of the canyon below Erzen in Bërzhitë. Tourists want to go beyond Tirana as a center but they also want to know nature“, says Alma Memo, from the Tourism Promotion and Development Directorate.
Tirana is attracting more and more tourists from all over the world, but it seems that the Germans are leading this year.
“There are 30-40% more tourists, they come from all countries of the world. There is already another opinion about Tirana. Champion Germans, there are many from Germany, from Belgium, Sweden and Switzerland. There are many French, Italians, from Portugal, there are many Poles, there is kindness and this makes us happy. There are also many from America and Australia. It is the epicenter, they come to Tirana to visit and then go to other countries”, adds Memo.
“We are from Germany, the first time we come to Albania. We will stay 3-4 days in Albania. First impression so far is very good. We heard some good but not so good words from others, who told us that Albania is not known for tourism. But we are seeing that here people are very friendly, it is a safe place”says a German tourist.
“We will also go to Ksamil. In Germany we heard that it is a very beautiful beach. We came with a camper, we went from Montenegro to Shkodër and now we are staying in Tirana, a very good place“, says another.
