The decision to close barber shops and hairdressers was approved at German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s meeting with state prime ministers on December 16, 2020, following an increase in the number of coronavirus cases.
Barbers and hairdressers in Germany who have been closed since mid-December due to the new coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) on Monday will open the doors of their stores to customers after 11 weeks, reports Anadolu Agency (AA).
The decision to close barber shops and hairdressers was approved at German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s meeting with state prime ministers on December 16, 2020, following an increase in the number of coronavirus cases.
At the meeting held on February 11, it was decided that barbers and hairdressers could continue to work from March 1, as part of the mitigation of measures due to the reduction in the number of coronavirus cases.
This decision was welcomed by barbers and hairdressers throughout Germany.
“Our bookings are full throughout March and we have started scheduling new bookings,” said Ali Kocakaya, a barber in Charlottenburg County.
Noting that clients eagerly await the reopening of hairdressing salons, Kocakaya noted that they have completed preparations for the opening.
“Customers who come earlier have to wait outside. “Since we work according to the planned bookings, we can expect clients only at the appointed time”, added Kocakaya.
Isa Gözcü, who works as a barber in the Moab district of Berlin, said he was happy to hear that they would be allowed to work from March.
“We have taken many precautions, we disinfect everything after shearing and we have disposable towels and covers. “Every night we disinfect metal equipment in a disinfection machine,” he said.
Citing measures to be followed, Gözcü said that “we can only accept as many clients as we have places to work”.
