HJC-HJC meeting, Ibrahimi: Finding instruments to mitigate the consequences of Vetting

Guests are the President of the Republic, the President of the Constitutional Court, the President of the High Court, the President of the Special Court against Corruption, the President of the Special Court of Appeals, the Minister of Justice, the Head of the SPAK, the Prosecutor General, the High Inspector of Justice , Director of the School of Magistrates and representatives OPDAT and other organizations which monitor the implementation of justice reform.

The chairman of the KLP, Gent Ibrahimi, stressed that it is their duty to find instruments to mitigate the consequences of Vetting.

“A legal reconciliation and interpretation is needed between us for the most optimal management of the judicial system. We are jointly responsible for managing the justice system. This is the first meeting of the two Councils, because both institutions manage the status and career of magistrates. We are the families of prosecutors and judges and the issues we have chosen to address today have public sensitivity. Our task is to find instruments to mitigate the consequences of Vetting“, Said Ibrahimi.

Ibrahimi: The third option could be the approval of the new court map and the increase of the quotas for admission to the School of Magistrates. One mechanism would be to review the legislation but it has already been exhausted with the legal changes that have been made recently. The second option is the promotion of legal advisers and assistants, but it requires further legal changes.

Recall that the High Judicial Council, the High Prosecution Council and the Ministry of Justice have agreed on a new map of the courts in the country, which will be proposed to the Council of Ministers.

Of the 20 Courts of First Instance of general jurisdiction, the new court map provides for only 12, while of the six Courts of Appeal, only one divided into two chambers.
