The President of the Albanian National Olympic Committee, Fidel Ylli in an interview on the Top Story show on Top Channel confessed his introduction to Albanian politics.
He said that the only reason he became part of politics is sport and its improvement in our country.
“In terms of politics, one of the reasons that Edi Rama convinced me in politics was just sports. I never thought that a businessman, his family had in America to enter politics and this politics that is in Albania, but he convinced me with two words. ‘Those sports projects you have to come here to my side for you to realize’. Some things were done that had not been done for 100 years in Albania. There were two Olympic centers, what we are and the center of Korça, there were four stadiums that were not done in the history of Albania, there were 100 gyms that were not done in 100 years and 5 million dollars were given for sports, these were as a result of my encouragement to introduce the word sport in the government and parliament, that after all sport is not a competition that wins and comes out first, sport in my vision is quality of life, education, image of the country, athletes are our best ambassadors, sport is also politics “said Ylli.
During the interview he also showed the good relationship they have with the Kosovo committee.
“You remember the sport at the moment when our team met in Belgrade, the State Department had to speak, the EU had to speak, it was a competition where politics had to intervene, the bridges of cooperation are connected by sport. We have an extraordinary relationship with the Kosovo committee, we are like a committee, joint activities, we share scholarships, coaches’ qualifications, we have 8, Kosovo 8, we share with each other because we benefit from each other, they are good in judo , we in weightlifting, athletics and other sports, and we do the meetings together, I am convinced that Kosovo and Albania will unite one day“, Stressed Ylli.
