Prime Minister Edi Rama during the weekly press conference said that in 2013 Albania was ready to reduce salaries and pensions due to bad debt.
Rama further focused on the reconstruction process, saying that so far no penny has been affected by debts offered by friendly countries at the donors’ conference for aid to Albania after the November earthquake.
“In 2013, Albania was in danger when we made contact with the IMF. Due to debts he did not pay his salaries and pensions. The IMF asked to reduce salaries and pensions. The debt was bad and unaffordable. But today we are higher. The donor conference gave us the capacity to finance the debt. We did not throw a penny from the part of the loans from the funds we received. All the houses and schools that are being built. The part of schools with grants and not with debt has started. All of them have so far been funded by the Albanian government. That fact must be taken into account. ”
