The community of journalists in Kosovo is shocked by the attack on their colleague Visar Duriqi.
The well-known investigative journalist was attacked at midnight in front of his house. Three masked persons broke their teeth and nose. police are not yet aware of the perpetrators but have opened investigations. Duriqi himself has said that he has been threatened for his work since 2014.
“Those who ordered this attack and who at the moment still do not know who they are, should know that a nose and some broken teeth is not what scares us. After the stabilization of the health condition we return to where we left it to report the same as before. “As if nothing happened”, Duriqi wrote on Facebook.
The journalist of the Insider and the author of the show Indoks has realized a series of investigative shows exposing cases of crime and corruption. The attack on him was carried out at the entrance of the apartment in Fushë Kosovë after a televised debate.
The journalist received first aid at the hospital. The community of journalists in Kosovo has condemned this event, and there have been reactions not only from their association but also from other factors in Kosovo. The Kosovo Law Institute sees this attack as a direct attempt to restrict freedom of speech aimed at intimidating journalists and society to express their views freely.
