The mayor of the city of Mariupol in Ukraine said that more than 10 thousand civilians died during the Russian siege of the city and that the number of victims could reach up to 20 thousand.
Mayor Vadym Boychenko told the Associated Press that Russian forces brought mobile crematorium equipment to the city to dispose of the bodies.
He accused the Russians of refusing to allow humanitarian convoys into the city in an attempt to cover up the massacre.
According to him, there are still 120,000 civilians in Mariupol in urgent need of food, water and medicine.
Boychenko also said he had learned that Russians were collecting bodies and storing them in refrigerators in a large shopping mall.
