After the victory in the court battle with the AFF for the Regional Football Association in Tirana, the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj has started the inspections for the new sports fields in the capital.
He was in the 9-year school “Qazim Turdiu”, which was rebuilt after the collapse of the earthquake of November 26, 2019, where he said that the Municipality of Tirana is showing a special attention to financing sports.
“The fact that in Tirana we have a new leadership in football, means that we have opened a door for a new partnership, as we have long had with basketball and volleyball. We do not leave the battles of Tirana in half, but every municipality, every sport, every federation and community must make its own battle. In Tirana we won the battle to have a transparent Federation, related to the Football Association, as well as to take advantage of the fact that we are the European Youth Capital for more championships“, Said Veliaj.
The Mayor said that the football of the capital will be governed in a transparent way, while emphasizing that the sports fields will be made available to the sports federations.
“Today we have the Volleyball Federation as one of the main partners; as well as the basketball federation, the Tirana sports club, and even with the court decision, we have put the Football Association for Tirana on the right track, after a won battle. What other municipalities do and what the big federation does is their job. I am not in sports, I am in charge of the city management, but we made sure that at least in Tirana there are no violations and at least Tirana is governed in a transparent manner. Thus, we have the opportunity to twin the football association with sports fields, starting from the fields in Lapraka, to “Ali Demi”, the fields in Kombinat and many of the fields that can be used, especially by those who deal with mini football. We want to make all terrains available to these associations“, Underlined Veliaj.
The mayor announced that the organization of the championship among the 9-year schools of the capital will start very soon. He said that thanks to investments in new sports fields, Tirana now has the opportunity to organize and host important sports activities. “In the year of Youth we focus on big sports events. We are finally certified that we have enough facilities to have dignified reception of all teams coming from abroad. I look forward to doing the good work we have done with other sports now with football as well. We have a Football Association of Tirana, which was elected with transparency, with a Court decision, and with a battle won for all those who wanted justice, at least in the territory where the Municipality of Tirana servess ”, stressed Veliaj.
The gym and outdoor sports fields of the school “Qazim Turdiu” will meet the needs not only of its 900 students, but also of the community of unit No. 9 and sports federations that can use them after school.
