At the invitation of the Speaker of the Grand Assembly of the Republic of Turkey, Mustafa Şentop, the Speaker of the Assembly, Lindita Nikolla, is paying an official visit to Turkey. The delegation also includes MPs Shpresa Marnoj and Shpëtim Idrizi.

The visit began with the laying of a wreath at the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the great founder, reformer and modernizer of the Republic of Turkey.

At the Palace of the Grand Assembly of the Republic, Speaker Lindita Nikolla was received by President Mustafa Şentop. President Nikolla underlined that “The ties between Albania and Turkey are deep, strong, traditional and fraternal. Parliamentary co-operation between the two countries is excellent and has also challenged the limitations and difficulties of the pandemic. The Assembly and the Assembly are expanding and intensifying parliamentary cooperation and promoting and supporting bilateral cooperation in all areas. Your visit to Tirana in February 2021 as well as my visit to Ankara are clear expressions of the political will to intensify and deepen parliamentary cooperation. President Nikolla welcomed the signing of the “Joint Political Declaration”, which raised the bilateral relationship with the level of strategic partnership, and confirmed the will of both countries to open a new chapter of cooperation.

Albania appreciates the strategic partnership and the very good and friendly traditional relations with Turkey, in the service of good neighborliness, development, stability, peace and progress in the region and beyond. Albania and Turkey are close and reliable partners in NATO and are working to achieve the national goal, EU membership.

Turkey is Albania’s fourth trading partner. Turkish investments reach the figure of 3.6 billion dollars, while about 15 thousand Albanian citizens work in Turkish companies in Albania.

Mayor Nikolla praised the increase of cooperation in recent years in the field of security, defense, education, culture, tourism, transport and health, praised the establishment for a very short period of the Regional Hospital in Fier, and noted that Albania welcomes investments Turkish in technology, processing industry, clothing industry, agriculture, livestock, etc.

Nikola expressed gratitude for Turkey’s assistance in coping with the consequences of the earthquake and stressed that the 524 Turkish government-funded residential apartments in the Municipality of Kurbin are ready to house the affected families in January 2022.

Albania is grateful for Turkey’s help in overcoming the pandemic.

The Speaker of the Grand Assembly of the Republic of Turkey, Mustafa Şentop, noted that the Albanian people have a special place in the hearts of the Turkish people and cooperation between the two countries is strengthened by traditional relations, solidarity, our strategic partnership and cooperation in organizations. international. Turkey closely follows and supports the development and stability of Albania, as a policy for the entire region. We will expand cooperation between the Grand Assembly and the Assembly, between parliamentary friendship groups, committees, MPs and parliamentary services.

Deputies Shpëtim Idrizi and Shpresa Marnoj expressed their willingness to intensify cooperation between the parliamentary friendship groups as well as the gratitude of the communities they represent for Turkey’s assistance to Albania.

During the meeting with the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Albania, Fatma Aksal, and members of the group was discussed on increasing the contribution of parliamentary friendship groups in cooperation between the Assembly and the Grand Assembly, between parliamentary committees and deputies, cooperation to increase participation political, parliamentary, economic and social women as well as supporting comprehensive bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Mevlüt Ҁavuşoğlu, discussed the strategic partnership, excellent political cooperation, friendship, cooperation and solidarity between the two countries, cooperation in the framework of international organizations and regional initiatives and the continuation of Turkey’s lobbying to increase international recognition of Kosovo, its acceptance in the Council of Europe and other international organizations.
