The National Institute of Public Health in Kosovo (NIPHK) said on Monday, January 10, that the epidemiological situation in Kosovo may worsen as a result of the spread of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus.
This Institute has called for no gatherings.
“It is necessary for everyone to take extra care to strictly respect the physical distance, to use masks, to disinfect and ventilate the spaces, preventing and avoiding the possible further spread of COVID-19 infection”, it is said in a post by this Institute on the social network, Facebook.
NIPHK also said that vaccination is the best way to protect against the virus, and reminded citizens that they can be immunized every day in all primary care institutions in municipalities.
According to data from the Ministry of Health in Kosovo, 49.2 percent of citizens have been vaccinated with the first dose of the vaccine, while 43.9 percent with the second dose.
Currently in Kosovo, the booster dose of the vaccine is given to all those who have three months from receiving the second dose.
