The Albanian government has done this by trying to curb the increase in the price of fuel through a joint board with fuel traders, from where every day the price will be agreed in advance and then the price will be made public.
“We will pass within 24 hours a normative act with the force of law and the government will enter the supply administration, together with you, through a national fuel supply board and every day you and the government, ie the representatives of the government and specifically the minister of Finance, the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, the Director of Taxes, the Director of Customs and the Chairman of the Competition Authority, will be at the table with 5 representatives from you, you solve, there is no problem, and there will be no table in any gas station where a price that has not been approved by the board will be displayed. If one does this, one will miss the gas station, very simple“, Said Rama.
Protesters under his window the prime minister conveyed this message.
“Those who go out with X5 on the road and block the roads, do not have a salary of 300 thousand ALL and of course they will bear more burden in this war. Of course we will have to look at how to compensate farmers for example. Then the income plus due to the price increase, we will return it again, we will not take it in another direction but we will return it again. Where will we return them? We will return them to those who are most in need today, who are farmers, who are the ones who use public transport. Minister of Energy Belinda Balluku brought to the attention of oil wholesalers the obligation to have fuel reserves, including strictly controlled exports.
Despite this government intervention, the price of fuel will be dictated by international stock exchanges, but at least the price increase according to the appetite of traders will be curbed at the moment. It is worth seeing whether this government intervention will soften the wave of protests of citizens throughout Albania and whether we will pay for fuel at the real price dictated by the price in international markets.
