Hundreds of Palestinians today attended the funeral procession for 14-year-old Mohammed Shehade, who was killed yesterday by Israeli forces in Bethlehem, in the West Bank.
The military said the teenager had been shot as a suspect for dropping Molotov cocktails.
“Mohammed Shehade, 14, was killed by Israeli forces in the village of Al-Kader,” said the Palestinian health ministry.
The Israeli army confirmed the death in a statement, saying the victim was among three suspects who fired Molotov cocktails at passing cars, endangering their lives.
They said the army was carrying out “anti-terrorist activity” in the Al-Khader area where several vehicles had been hit by incendiary devices in recent days.
“The army acted to stop them and shot at a suspect who fired a Molotov cocktail at passing vehicles. The suspect was hit,” the statement said.
The army gave first aid but the suspect died, Israeli officials added.
