Five people have been arrested and nine others have been prosecuted as part of Operation Last Bet to crack down on informality, illegal gambling activity and the distribution of hard drugs in small doses.
As part of this operation, DD citizens, 40 years old, resident of the village of Hudënisht, Pogradec, fell into the hands of the police; FB, 30 years old, resident in Pogradec; MA, 30 years old, resident in Çërrava, Pogradec, O. Xh., 18 years old, resident in Hudënisht and SL, 29 years old, resident in Korça, as well as started the criminal proceedings in a state of freedom for 9 other citizens.
In a press release, the police said that among the arrested persons is also the owner of the restaurant, who had adapted his environment to organize illegal gambling and for the use of narcotics.
It is learned that from the investigative actions carried out, the evidence collected and during the control exercised in the village of Hudënisht, Pogradec, in the restaurant used by the citizen DD, (who was unregistered with the tax authorities), it was found that the above-mentioned citizens exercised activity illegal gambling, where this environment was adapted for the illegal organization of these games and for the use of narcotics.
As material evidence were found and seized 1 poker table, 9 packs of gambling cards, 385 pieces of chips, 3 doses of suspected narcotics cocaine, 1 DVR camera for surveillance cameras, 5 mobile phones, 1200 euros, 200,000 ALL, 150 dollars and 10,000 dinars.
