These are difficult times we are going through, they have become even more difficult, precisely because a handful of people do not want to end the transition. What does transition mean? Transition means moving from a dictatorial past to democracy, to freedom, to openness, to the dignity of every human being as God has done. Towards the freedom that the law really guarantees as Rei said, but in fact it is a natural right with which we are born, it is our right, God has given it to us and no one can take it from us. It is guaranteed by the law so that my freedom does not harm your freedom. These are the responsibility of politics, which through the institutions which it has the responsibility to administer through the vote of the citizens, representing the citizens, makes these laws work, or stops the work of laws and turns the country into a jungle. And so we ended up in 30 years, in a jungle with some animals more equal than some other animals, to use Orwell, since you are also journalism students. George Orwell, in “Animal Farm”, a book already famous for Albanian youth, describes how there was a hierarchy and although it was said that all animals were equal, pigs seemed to be more equal than other animals, he chose pigs as a symbol of let’s say greed. Why is this whole battle taking place? Why all this war? In order for the elites to circulate, so that the chairs are not eternal. Politics does not recognize eternal chairs, it does not recognize dynasties.
For the leader of the Democrats, the great politician Wiston Churchill has said that the very concept of politics is change. According to him, to change means to improve. To change often means to make the perfect change.
And that’s the truth, countries that opened the door to change as through elections are moving forward. Countries that stop change with all sorts of tricks, circulate the same people, who never give up their seats, who pretend to leave and come back, or change the Constitution to stay in power. Once Prime Minister, then President, then Prime Minister again, are the places where citizens do not enjoy these freedoms. Not only is there no light at the end of the transition tunnel, but there is no turning back to use a famous song by a famous, very old Beatles band of your age, “Back in the USSR” . So we go back to the time, as Rei said, of the Soviet Union. In fact we have to move forward and we have every chance of moving forward. That we are in a very large contrast. We were the most isolated country from the countries of communism, the most isolated of all, with the most brutal dictatorship, which entered the house of the people, which entered the bedrooms, inside the souls of the people. They were afraid of themselves, let alone the police, the state security and all the other apparatus of the dictatorship. And meanwhile, we are among the most open countries thanks to 30 years, not thanks to politics, thanks to Albanians who have known how to embrace freedom. The youth has known how to embrace freedom. How many young people we have today throughout Albania, who despite all these difficult conditions, still have not lost hope in their country. How many others do we have outside Albania, who do not differ at all in skill, talent or productivity from their peers born and raised, as they say with a golden spoon, or in very good conditions in England, Italy, in Germany, in Italy, in Greece, in France, in the United States. So, this means that there is basically nothing wrong with the Albanian youth, on the contrary, when they manage in such difficult conditions, imagine if they are given the opportunities. What opportunities can politics offer youth? In the first place, do not weld on the chair. To allow the circulation of elites, to allow things to move forward. Why are they welded behind chairs? Because interests are linked there, political interests are related to economic interests, to financial interests. We can divide society into two different types according to the way we decide.
