Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko later today to discuss the situation in Ukraine and Western sanctions.
Russia sent tens of thousands of troops to Ukraine on February 24 from Russian territory and Belarus.
Mr Lukashenko has insisted that Belarus be involved in negotiations to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, saying his country had been labeled “an accomplice of the aggressor”.
Belarus is involved in Western sanctions, along with Russia.
The two will meet at the Vostochny Cosmodrome in Russia’s far eastern Amur region, the Belarusian news agency Belta reported.
