Today, Prime Minister Rama participated in the summit held in Tirana, on the Western Balkans and cooperation related to road transport. After welcoming the representatives of the countries, the Prime Minister stressed that this meeting for him will continue in Ohrid with the next summit of the Open Balkans.
“The Summit of the Open Balkans is in function of moving as fast as possible to the realization of the free movement of people, goods, capital, services and implementation as soon as possible in this region of the four freedoms of the European Union. “These four freedoms of the EU movement in the Western Balkans are vital for us, for security in this region, for peace and conflict resolution in this area of Europe,” said the Prime Minister.
Without dwelling on specific projects, the Prime Minister said “I am glad that today we have entered another phase thanks to the European economic investment plan, and thanks to the increased support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and the European Investment Bank itself. “also thanks to a much greater synergy within the region and a much deeper and more concrete understanding of the necessity to unite all these forces for the sake of the future.”
Rama, referring to the Blue Corridor, said that one of the segments is being built, while the other segments are in the phase of entering the international tender and expressed confidence that within the third term of government we will see the fruits of this very large construction site, although perhaps not the complete completion of this very important axis.
Further, the Prime Minister expressed the desire for the EU to support Montenegro, emphasizing the importance of the involvement of all Balkan countries.
“On the other hand, we are very pleased that Corridor Eight has finally entered the agenda of discussions and together with the Government of Northern Macedonia, we are coordinated and we hope that for this project the support of the economic plan and financial institutions will not it will be absent and it will not be late either “said Rama, moving on to another international project of great importance for the country.
Further, Prime Minister Rama clarified that the Port of Durres, a project that is being finalized, will be the port of the entire Western Balkans, which will provide greater accessibility and EU standards for goods throughout the region, as and combining this with the Durrës-Prishtinë railway and the other Tirana-Durrës railway project and with the dry port of Prishtinë / Pri Prishttina, which Rama said will be presented at the meeting of the two governments at the end of June, which will give the whole region a great new power.
Emphasizing that it is not worth wasting time wasting on each other, Rama said that we do not have the luxury of losing any day and not other years.
