On Tuesday night, the license plates of some citizens of North Mitrovica were covered with stickers.
The symbols of Kosovo, some unknown persons, covered them with paper with the inscription SRB KM, making them look like license plates issued by the authorities of Serbia, which are considered illegal in Kosovo.
On Wednesday morning, the Kosovo Police was notified by citizens, some of whom were Serbs, that their car license plates had stickers on them. So far, the police have no suspects for the crime, although they add that they are investigating.
Meanwhile, the prosecutor’s office announces that it will cooperate with the Kosovo police to find those responsible and the motive.
The Government of Kosovo has decided to stop the circulation of illegal KM license plates of the Serbian citizens of the north, and has given them a deadline from August 1 to September 30 to change their license plates from KM to RKS.
