The block in the area known as the former Electric Market, in Units 1 and 2, has been turned into a pedestrian area for the community.
Mayor Erion Veliaj said that this investment has brought a radical change in Units 1 and 2 in the capital, increasing the value of the property and increasing the pedestrian space for residents.
“We have acquired a boulevard, which has brought to light both the old part of Unit 1 and the new part of Unit 2; has increased the value of the property, has given space for children, who now do not have to play between cars or around corners. Today the children have a space that can be turned not only for laps every evening, but in a space that can have opportunities for the farm market, the village market at the weekend, for various activities for the community. This is not just a basic urbanization, it is actually increasing the value of the entire ecosystem living in this community”.
The mayor claimed that his feelings as he inaugurated this urban block are mixed for the fact that there were delays due to those who see any new investment as an opportunity to open conflict.
Three years go by in Astiri, 30 years of debate for “Skënderbej” square, two years at the New Bazaar, one year at the Castle, two years again quarrel at the Lake, some years the quarrel at the River Bank continues. Why do we have to resist so much urbanization, development, progress? I understand that some do it for voting issues, some political parties try to use every case that has a conflict, but I believe the opposite is true. Who has tried to make votes, putting in trouble the development of the city, have failed. We will try to make up for lost time. “I am glad that we are working hard for the schools in this unit.”
