Residents of three villages of Kukës who for more than 10 days have problems with traffic on the bridge of Shtrezë which was damaged during the first rains that covered the country have addressed the Municipality of Kukës, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, the Albanian Road Authority and County Prefecture to take action.
Residents of Shishtavec, Novoseja and Turaj say they are blocked due to the collapse of the Shtreza bridge.
They demand full attention and taking measures to resolve the issue and return the situation to normal by unblocking the movement of vehicles on this axis.

Regarding the issue of the Bed Bridge.
As you are known from our previous publications, for more than 10 days the inhabitants of 3 villages Shishtavec, Turaj, Novosej are found blocked due to the collapse of the bridge of Shtreza from the rain of the beginning of the month. Hundreds of residents of this unit have encountered great difficulties in moving to the city of Kukës and other areas of the country to meet their vital needs in the supply of food, medicine and various services, as well as the potato trade. Residents are forced to walk part of the road on foot loaded with heavy food and bags in hand with several-week reserves, to cross from one side of the bridge to the other, while this is degrading and crumbling daily due to weather conditions and depreciation for decades , adding to the difficulties.
The concern of the residents addressed to the local government but also made public on media and social networks for days, has not yet found a reaction with concrete measures. Despite the praiseworthy work of the local government in cleaning the road axis Uzinë – Shishtavec from snowfall during the winter period, no investment has been made in infrastructure for the maintenance of this axis since its construction in 2011 – 2012. This is leading in the degradation of asphalt in different parts of the road and its blockage by continuous landslides from rainfall. On the other hand, the old road that passes through the connecting axis of Kollovoz is non-functional, while the road to Cërnaleva and Borja is completely unusable for vehicles.
Meanwhile, the road from the customs through the axis Shishtavec – Krushevë – Dragash and then the customs Morin, in addition to the delays of stopping at two customs, is twice as long, multiplying the costs for vehicles. In these conditions, the residents of the area appeal for the immediate intervention of the Municipality and the relevant instances in the implementation and opening of the emergency fund for the rapid opening and rehabilitation of the old axis Shishtavec – Kollovoz until the reconstruction and full operation of the bridge of Shtreza. We demand full attention and taking immediate measures to resolve the issue and return the situation to normal by unblocking the movement of vehicles on this road axis.
