The group of seven most industrialized countries (G7) called on China to support Ukraine’s sovereignty and not help Russia, warning that Moscow’s unprovoked war against Ukraine has threatened the world causing a severe food and energy crisis.
The G7 made this warning through a statement on May 14, following the end of the three-day meeting in Germany.

The G7 also called on Russia’s ally, Belarus, to stop “enabling” Russia’s military efforts and to “respect its international obligations.”
The Russian invasion of Ukraine that began on February 24, according to the G7, has “caused one of the worst food and energy crises in history, which now threatens the most vulnerable people around the world.”
The group, which includes the United States, Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and Japan, also said urgent measures were needed to unblock grain supplies that Russia is preventing Ukraine from exporting, which according to the G7 -s, is contributing to the food crisis.
It is estimated that 25 million tons of cereals are being unable to be transported through the ports of Ukraine, which is one of the largest exporters of cereals in the world. This blockade seems to have affected more countries in the Middle East and Africa.
The G7 foreign ministers attending the meeting in Germany also pledged to deepen Russia’s economic and political isolation through sanctions, adding that their countries would also continue to provide defense and military assistance to Kiev “for as long as necessary”.
