A rare 170-meter-long superyacht that can dive into the water and wait on board other ships has started sailing after a 3-year conversion process.
The unique boat, called the OK, has a tennis court on board and was originally a transport ship to Japan in 1982 before work began on transforming it into a ‘semi-submersible’ at the Karmarine shipyard in Turkey.
Designer Timur Bozca, who won the award as the best young man on the field in 2015, says OK can submerge 70 percent of herself.
The ship has a swimming pool and is surrounded by glass windows, has a botanical garden and a tennis court.
It allows its guests to wait on board about 70 smaller vehicles such as 30-meter boats, water jets or other yachts, with the help of its 40 tonne crane.
The vehicle can lower its middle platform under water allowing the load to be taken from below the water surface.
And when this platform is released from the transported vehicles, it can be turned into a tennis court on the sea.
Designer Timur Bozca said: “I can confirm that the vehicle is real and has already started traveling around the world.”
He adds: “We want to create the unique feeling of an undiscovered island in OK.”
“It can submerge 70 percent of itself underwater, making it easy to load yachts, water jets or other vehicles.”
The ship can accommodate 20 guests with all possible comfort, according to Bozca.
“With more than 3,300 square feet of deck space, the OK can accommodate 70 smaller vehicles such as yachts, boats, amphibious vehicles or water jets.”
The owner of the vehicle and its price were confidential information, according to officials.
