The indictment against former KLA leaders is expanding

In the documents published by the SPO that charge them with murder, war crimes and torture in Budakovo, Gjilan and Semetishte.

“KLA members arrested at least 12 people without any legal process holding them in locations in Budakovo and Senetishte several times around July 4, 1998 and April 29, 1999.”it is said in the published documents.

The victims were allegedly abused in a house in Budakovo and sent to Semetishta a few days later, handed over to some KLA members.

Regarding the crimes committed in Gjilan, the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office clarifies that the dormitory in Gjilan was used as an illegal detention center.

“At the end of July 1999, a person was forcibly removed from his workplace and sent to a dormitory in Gjilan. In the dormitory he was deprived of his keys and identity cards and his license was revoked. The same person was kept in the basement, under surveillance while his hands were tied. “He was not told the reasons for his detention and arrest and was not charged with a crime.”is further clarified in the indictment.

According to the prosecution he was held there for days and was beaten by at least three people.

With this accusation, the SPO explains that there were Albanians among those arrested. Two of those held at the site had died.

“Two people were abducted in Gjilan, two days apart in 1999. The first was escorted to the Dormitory and was never seen again, until his body was found in June 2000. Two days later, in July 1999, the person another was abducted, taken to a dormitory and never seen again until his body was found in 2002. “it is stated in the indictment.

According to the indictment, those held in these locations were Serbs, citizens suspected of collaborating with Serbs and / or LDK supporters.

Thaçi, Krasniqi, Veseli and Selimi were arrested in November 2020 and charged with war crimes, torture and ill-treatment and abduction.
