The Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja has monitored today the progress of vaccination in the Penitentiary Institution “Mine Peza” in Tirana.
The Minister praised the fact that the vaccination campaign went very well for both staff and citizens in conflict with the law, and encouraged prison managers to intensify awareness work to cover 100 percent with vaccination in all IECDs.
“We need to find incentive policies for vaccination. The vaccine has so far shown to be a protector of health even in this period when cases are increasing. Therefore, even in prisons or detention facilities, we must move at a fast pace of vaccination, because after all, detainees and convicts have problems with justice, are in conflict with the law, but deserve health services just like all other citizens “, Said Minister Manja.
The General Director of Prisons, Admir Abrija, said that in all Institutions for the Execution of Criminal Judgments have been fully vaccinated about 3600 people in conflict with the law, while there are about 600 employees who have either done only the first dose, or have not made no dose.
Minister Manja also spoke about the release of restrictive measures for meetings of prisoners and detainees, in the IECD where 100 percent vaccination of convicts will be achieved. Since the onset of the pandemic, these measures have been on the rise.
