The “Toyota Yaris” case, Basha arrives at SPAK!

Heusghem wants to know if there is a file with Lulzim Basha’s testimony and if a copy will be made available to him.

We recall that the leader of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha has been asked before about these circumstances by the Prosecution of the capital and this evidence has been withdrawn by prosecutors of serious crimes, who have not yet decided whether to take them as welcome the October 2018 statements or will re-examine him again as a witness.

On the other hand, sources close to the Democratic Party, suggest that Lulzim Basha has expressed full readiness to contribute to the investigation of the Belgian justice authorities for the case known as Toyota Yaris, to help, according to him, in clarifying criminal political connections in the money laundering affair with political guarantees of senior government officials.

The Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, during the debate this Thursday in the Albanian Parliament with the leader of the Democrats, Lulzim Basha, reminded the latter of the issue “Toyota Yaris”.

“Belgian prosecutors are in Tirana and will interrogate you“, Said Manja, addressed to Basha.

The DP leader, on the other hand, responded with irony, telling Manja “to take cigarettes to his two friends in prison 313, Koka and Tahiri”.

Regarding the investigation, the Tirana Court on October 19 sentenced Ervis Vladin to one year and six months in prison. This is for the seizure of 3.4 million euros in two vehicles type “Toyota Yaris”. The latter had arrived at the Port of Durres from Belgium. Vladi was one of six people investigated in the case.

All were initially investigated for money laundering and structured criminal group. However, the court convicted Vlad, finding him guilty of the criminal offense of “failure to declare income at the border or valuables”. Due to the shortened trial, he will be sentenced to only one year in prison.

In the same case, Agim Çeka was sentenced for “illegal possession of weapons” to two years and four months in prison.

In June 2018, the police found and seized the two cars, where the amount of money was found.

This issue has also troubled politics at the time. Democrat leader Lulzim Basha from the rostrum of the Assembly declared millions of euros of crime, which were coming to Albania through “Toyota” vehicles.

Three days after Basha’s statement – two “Toyota Yaris” cars with several million euros inside were seized in Durrës.

3 people were arrested, the two drivers and the administrator of the company that transported the cars.

Initially, the investigation was launched by the former Serious Crimes Prosecution. She arrested and issued security measures for six people as suspects involved in the incident.

But, later, the Prosecution declared incompetence and transferred the file to the Tirana Prosecution. The latter assessed that the accusation of non-declaration of money at the borders for all persons did not stand.

In fact, the Toyota Yaris case was under investigation in four countries, including the United Kingdom, as long as one of the suspects turned out to be suspected of cocaine trafficking.
