The World Weightlifting Congress is held in Tirana / It was accepted by all member Federations

156 presidents of different federations and at the same time delegates of this congress together with their 156 general secretaries are arriving in Tirana hour after hour.

The president of the African continent for weightlifting and at the same time the member of the executive committee of the world federation, Mr. Khaled Mehalhel, tells us why Tirana was chosen among the 12 candidate countries for the organization of this congress.

I want to thank the Albanians for their hospitality from the airport and then here at the hotel. As for your question, there have been many candidate countries to organize this important event such as the electoral congress. In the end, Albania won for many reasons and one of them was the fact that Albania is a neutral country and there was no candidate for this election. It was a unanimous election after all of us members of the executive committee decided on Albania.

How is the organization going?

Albania is now the capital of world weightlifting. Things are going very well organizationally. For us, these elections are very important because we had a very bad image with the previous presidency. Now we are trying to start a new era a new image a new face for weightlifting as a sport.

How difficult has it been for the Albanian ascension federation to get an event of this magnitude?

Once again we show that despite being a small country we can take over and organize big activities. There will be over 30-40 international media that will broadcast the activity in 156 countries.

There will be about 12 candidates for the post of president of the world weightlifting federation, while our country is a supporter of the main candidate who is the current secretary general Mr. Mohamed Zhalud.
