Rapidly spreading fires have caused deaths and injuries in the state of Colorado in the central arid areas of the US.
Some 30,000 people have been ordered to flee their homes in Louisville and Superior City as Gov. Jared Polis has declared a state of emergency.
“Fire is not a matter of resources, it is a force of nature,” the governor told a news conference.
“We hope the winds blow soon and the weather changes. “As for those affected, we tell you that you are not alone.”
Winds of up to 169 km / h have blown in the region after a prolonged period of drought.
Previous fires in Colorado had affected rural areas, while the latter have been located in suburban areas of the state.
Some of the fires reportedly started after the electric poles fell from the winds, and then turned into the most devastating fires of recent years.
370 homes have been burned in Superior City and 210 in Old Town said Boulder’s sheriff, Joe Pelle.
A hotel and mall were also destroyed by the blaze.
An aid worker was injured during the reaction along with several citizens who were assisting the efforts.
