The riots in the ranks of the police that happened recently, where one policeman killed himself, another a colleague, while just a short time ago a young man was killed in a police station, have made the Director General of the State Police, Gladis Nano , yesterday to hold a meeting with representatives of the service of psychologists in the State Police.
The focus of this meeting was the exchange of opinions and the identification of current problems related to the service of psychologists in the State Police and the provision of relevant recommendations for the improvement of this service, in the function of assistance, testing and evaluation of Police employees. , who during the process of their work show problems and emotional burdens, especially in some structures or police units that are considered to be of increased risk during the performance of their duties.
Nano, recognizing the role and contribution of the psychologist’s service, for the performance of the functional tasks of the State Police, during his speech, said: “Our daily work is challenging for us, not only as professionals, but also as people, due to the 24/24 commitment and the emotional load of the treated cases. Based on this fact, for us as the State Police, it is important that every employee, at any level, be conscious and responsible during the performance of their duties, as well as during communication or interaction with citizens. In order to appreciate this, we need the service of the psychologist in our structures to be efficient and to fulfill in the best way and with European standards, its multidimensional role and contribution. For this purpose, we have set up a working group, so that this process is carried out as completely as possible, taking as a basis not only the Albanian legislation in the field, but also the experience of the police psychologist service of other countries and in cooperation with the police missions that assist the State Police.”
Following the discussion of the General Director, the Deputy General Director and the Director of Human Resources, with professionals in the field and of the psychologist service in the State Police, it was concluded that it is necessary to strengthen the capacities of this service, as well as to review the procedure standard that regulates his work.
Based on this, the General Director assigned, for the service of the psychologist in the State Police and for the relevant sectors, the tasks as follows:
٠revision of job descriptions of the psychologist’s function;
٠creating the best working conditions and service activity of the psychologist in the State Police;
٠revision of training programs for psychological counseling, as well as
٠Establishing a higher level of cooperation with leaders and Police employees in local and central structures.
