Mariglen Përgjini, convicted of premeditated murder, was handcuffed in Brussels during the international operation codenamed “Avenue”.
The 36-year-old was declared internationally wanted after the Shkodra Court of Appeals sentenced him to 18 years in prison, of which he has 10 years, 4 months and 27 days in prison left for the criminal offenses of “Intentional Murder” and “Illegal production and possession of weapons of war.”
He used a forged Bulgarian passport to evade identification by the police.
He was also sentenced by the Tirana Court of Appeals, to 3 years and 4 months in prison, for the criminal offense “Production and sale of narcotics.”
His capture was made thanks to a one-month cooperation between the units FAST Albania and FAST Belgium, which during this time have exchanged information, continuously, until the capture and arrest of the wanted person.

Another successful cooperation between FAST Albania and FAST Belgium is finalized, for the apprehension of persons declared internationally wanted.
The international police operation, codenamed “Avenue”, handcuffs the 36-year-old from Lezha, convicted of the criminal offenses “Intentional Murder”, “Production and sale of narcotics” and “Illegal production and possession of weapons”.
Thanks to the cooperation and exchange of information in time, between FAST Albania, FAST Belgium and Interpol of both countries, for the location of the Albanian citizen wanted, the international police operation codenamed “Avenue” was organized and finalized.
In the framework of this operation, in Brussels, Belgium, based on the information provided by FAST Albania, it became possible to catch, by FAST Belgium, the citizen Mariglen Përgjini, 36 years old, born in Manati, Lezha, declared internationally wanted. This citizen used a forged Bulgarian passport, in order to avoid identification by the police services.

Interpol Tirana, in cooperation with Intepol Belgium, continues the work to complete the documentation, in order to extradite this citizen to Albania.
