The military has confirmed the authenticity of the video clip showing the downing of the F-35C fighter jet, after the failure to land on the aircraft carrier.
The US Navy confirmed the authenticity of the footage in a statement to CNN.
The F-35C is first seen approaching the warship ‘Carl Vinson’ in the video recorded by the aircraft carrier board. Then the sound of a loud bang and a white smoke rises, before the view is interrupted.

“Videos and photos published by the media were taken from the board of the aircraft carrier USS ‘Carl Vinson’… during the accident,” said Commander Hayley Sims.
He added that investigations are still ongoing along with efforts to recover the wreckage, which already appears to be at the bottom of the South China Sea.
Media say Washington is rushing to recover the $ 100 million plane for fear it could be reached first by Beijing.
