South Korea condemns armed intervention by security forces against protesters against the coup in Myanmar.
South Korean President Moon Jae-in said in a social media post that violence against peaceful protesters in Myanmar must end immediately. “We condemn the violent crackdown on protesters by the military and police, and call for the immediate release of all those arrested, including Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi.”
UN special envoy to Myanmar Christine Schraner Burgener has called on UN Security Council members to take joint action against Myanmar’s military, which has used extreme violence against opponents of the coup.
