The British Secretary of Defense, Ben Wallace, has stated that Russia is facing a “great challenge” to enter the main cities of Ukraine.
He points out that this is happening because the armed forces and civilians are repelling enemy forces approaching by any means available.
Wallace says the siege of major urban centers and indiscriminate bombing was part of Russian military doctrine, aiming to demoralize the population to take after everything else that is left.
However, according to him, the geographical size of Ukraine and its large population of 44 million, would make the invasion by Russia “very difficult.”
“To conquer a country, using overwhelming force is one thing, to conquer a people of 44 million people who do not want you, is another thing”.
Wallace ruled out the possibility of implementing a NATO-banned zone, saying that any clash that comes from a violation of the zone by Russia “could lead to a just war across Europe.”
