French police had launched initial investigations today after the arrest of the attacker armed with a knife who held two women hostage in a shop until the early hours of the morning.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
After lengthy negotiations with the officers the suspect had initially released the mother and a few hours later and the daughter held hostage.<\/p>\n
Authorities said they had launched an investigation into his motives but gave no further details.<\/p>\n
Last night the French media said that the attacker surrounded by police wanted to contact the Minister of Justice and Omar Raddad’s lawyer.<\/p>\n
Raddad, is a former Moroccan gardener convicted in 1994 for the murder of his wealthy employer Ghislaine Marchal.<\/p>\n
Raddad has already served his sentence but has always insisted he is innocent and seeks to clear his name.<\/p>\n
The man armed with a knife held hostage at least two women mother and daughter in a building materials store since 16.00 local time Monday.<\/p>\n
Police had set up a security perimeter in the area as some sources identified the attacker as having a mental illness.<\/p>\n
Zv. the mayor of Paris, Emmanuel Gr\u00e9gor, urged people to avoid the area as he had personally gone to the scene.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
