The industry relies on low-paid migrant labor for stones further sold in neighboring China.<\/p>\n
Search workers were searching for the missing in the lake near the mine, while one person has been confirmed dead, authorities told the AFP network.<\/p>\n
The latest disaster hit the northern Pakant community near the border with China, where precious minerals are mined every year on the hillside.<\/p>\n
About 20 people remain missing a day after the tragedy while 25 injured were taken to hospitals.<\/p>\n
Hundreds of diggers had returned to the Pakant open pit mine during the rainy season when collecting rocks is believed to be simpler.<\/p>\n
Explosion groups said the landslide occurred due to the weight of the soil displaced by the researchers.<\/p>\n
About 200 workers were searching for survivors or bodies of victims, some of them in boats on the lake.<\/p>\n
In some of the footage it was seen that officials were pulling out an unidentified object from the water.<\/p>\n
Firefighters from several neighboring towns have joined the rescue effort.<\/p>\n
