He said the project would help lower gas prices in Europe, which have reached record levels.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Nord Stream 2 project was completed in September, but is now awaiting approval from regulators in Germany and the European Union.<\/p>\n<p>However, the commissioning of the pipeline has met with resistance from the United States and other countries, including Poland and Ukraine, who say it will increase Europe&#8217;s dependence on Russian gas.<\/p>\n<p>Putin said the second part of the pipeline was filled with gas.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I want to congratulate Gazprom and their partners in &#8216;North Stream 2&#8217; for the completion of work and for the creation of this important road which is ready for work,&#8221; Putin said during a government meeting attended by the head of Gazprom. , Alexei Miller.<\/p>\n<p>The North Stream 2 pipeline is a $ 11 billion project.  It was built by the Kremlin-controlled gas giant Gazprom.  Half of the construction cost was paid by European energy companies.<\/p>\n<p>Approval for the commissioning of this pipeline is expected to take place in the first part of 2022.
