“The Voice”<\/a> has been suspended on charges of abuse and sexual misconduct by executives.<\/p>\nDutch production company RTL said it was shutting down broadcasts to investigate multiple allegations of “sexual misconduct” and “abuse of office,” according to a statement issued by them over the weekend.<\/p>\n
Among the accused is The Voice orchestra conductor Jeroen Rietbergen, who has already resigned and apologized.<\/p>\n
The production group RTL, which is a subsidiary of the American network CNN, said it was not aware of the allegations until they were published by the local investigative program ‘BOOS’.<\/p>\n
After the first reports of abuse, BOOS chief Tim Hofman called on anyone else who had experienced such abusive and denigrating behavior.<\/p>\n
“Numerous reactions came from girls and people who had been victims or witnesses of abuse or sexual or professional misconduct in this program,” the program statement said.<\/p>\n
In addition to Rietbergen, the BOOS adds that the allegations include many other people within the program, in a general “culture” that accompanied the television set.<\/p>\n
Yesterday Dutch Justice Minister Dilan Ye\u015filg\u00f6z-Zegerius urged all those who had fallen prey to manipulation or low sexual behavior in the program to report to the police or prosecutor’s office to launch an investigation.<\/p>\n
