{"id":20395,"date":"2022-01-19T14:26:22","date_gmt":"2022-01-19T14:26:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.imalbania.com\/kosova\/french-senators-vote-to-ban-headscarf-in-sporting-events\/"},"modified":"2022-01-19T14:26:22","modified_gmt":"2022-01-19T14:26:22","slug":"french-senators-vote-to-ban-headscarf-in-sporting-events","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.imalbania.com\/kosova\/french-senators-vote-to-ban-headscarf-in-sporting-events\/","title":{"rendered":"French senators vote to ban headscarf in sporting events"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"firstP\">\n<p>The French Senate has voted to ban the wearing of headscarves in sports competitions, arguing that neutrality is a requirement on the playing field.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The French Supreme Legislative Chamber voted to change the law, saying that the wearing of &#8220;visible religious symbols is prohibited&#8221; while participating in events and competitions organized by sports federations.<\/p>\n<p>In the text of the law, the senators clearly said that this change is intended to stop &#8220;wearing a headscarf in sports competitions&#8221;.  The senators added that the headscarf could endanger the safety of the athletes who wear them while practicing their sport.<\/p>\n<p>This change was proposed by the right-wing group, the Republicans and opposed by the French Government.  However, 160 senators voted in favor of the change and 143 were against.<\/p>\n<p>A committee of members of the Senate and House of Commons must now convene and find a compromise before the text is published, which means that this amendment can be changed.<\/p>\n<p>It is unclear whether this part of the law will be implemented during the 2024 Paris Olympics.
